Central bank: Russia’s gold reserves at 2,330 tns as of Mar 1

MOSCOW, Mar 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gold reserves, part of the country’s international reserves, amounted to 74.8 million ounces, or 2,329.65 tonnes, as of March 1, as seen by PRIME in materials of the central bank on Wednesday.

The value of the reserves stood at U.S. $135.564 billion as of the beginning of March. The share of gold in the foreign exchange and gold reserves amounted to 23.6%.

The central bank suspended publishing data on the amount and the share of gold in Russia’s foreign exchange reserves in 2022. As of February 1 of the year, the gold reserves amounted to 73.9 million ounces, or 2,298.547 tonnes.

The share of foreign currency in Russia’s foreign exchange and gold reserves decreased to 71.5% as of March 1, 2023 from 72.4% as of the same date of 2022.
